Help us respond in the Philippines
Oenone Chadburn – Tearfund’s Head of Disaster Management, reports: ‘We’ve been in emergency communication with our partners and their networks of churches, across the Philippines, all weekend.

‘Together we’re initiating emergency food distributions and our church networks are planning emergency shelter-and-blanket distributions, as well as child-focused protection work. What we need now is the money to run these.’

Centrally populated areas of the Philippines, which took the full force of Haiyan’s 195mph winds, have seen millions displaced. The death toll is climbing above 10,000.

"Sadly, there are many, many victims and the damage is huge. Let's try to provide concrete help." – Pope Francis

The most powerful storm ever to hit land has caused devastation on an unprecedented scale in the Philippines. 9.8 million people have had their lives torn apart. But we can still help them as they try to recover and rebuild their lives.

Your donation will help local church partners throughout the region provide emergency shelter, food, clean water and essential household items such as blankets, clothes and cooking equipment to those who have been left with nothing.

CAFOD partner Caritas Philippines says:

"Patients are overflowing from the regional hospital in Tacloban. There are dead people everywhere. There is no water or power."

Chris Bain, CAFOD Director says:

"However distressing the images of devastation and stories of suffering caused by Typhoon Haiyan, we cannot waste time on despair or shock – not when there are still lives to be saved, and communities in such desperate need of help."

Help us reach people who have lost everything. Donate now >>

We urgently need your church's support to reach people who are hungry, homeless and afraid.

Our partners are doing all they can to provide shelter, food and basic essentials, working alongside the ACT Alliance – a network of 130 faith organisations.

'We have lost our homes, we have lost our livelihoods. The future is uncertain,' one elderly man told us.

Could your church hold a collection this Sunday to support the Disaster Emergency Committee Appeal?

Thank you for your support,
