We are grateful for your support of the Bristol Noise charity in so many ways. We are encouraged to see over 570 volunteers registered already to be involved in the weekend.

'The Noise’ 2013 – Working Together in Bristol
It has been well reported that this city, like many others in the UK, is suffering because of cuts made in the provision of services to young people, and to the elderly – some of the most vulnerable in our communities.  That, added to concerns over the changes being made to the welfare system, it seems that now, more than ever, it is vital that statutory and voluntary organisations work together to bridge gaps that have been made, and meet some very real and serious needs.
Bristol Noise is a charity that has been working in Bristol since 2001, aiming to mobilise volunteers from churches all over Bristol, particularly over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, encouraging involvement and commitment to their local community and to the city as a whole.  

The Noise 2013 (4th - 6th May) hopes to see around 1000 volunteers working hard in the communities of Horfield, Lockleaze, Manor Farm and Upper Horfield, Sea Mills, Shirehampton and Lawrence Weston, and Southmead in North Bristol, as well as in Barton Hill/Redfield in East Bristol.

Noise volunteers, a large majority of who are teenagers and under 30 years old, will be working on a wide variety of practical projects including; in the gardens of vulnerable adults and families, clearing and tidying public spaces, and working in local schools and community buildings.

While many Noise volunteers will be working on practical projects, others will be making sure that there is a lot going on for the whole community to be a part of and enjoy.  The Noise 2013 will be hosting 6 locally based Family Fun Afternoons, including a Community BBQ in Southmead.  There will also be 4 events exclusively for Senior Citizens, including 3 course banquets and traditional cream teas.  There will also be an opportunity to book your family in for a professional quality family photo, and as well as all that, football coaching and tournaments for under 12’s.  And, as always, everything that happens over the whole of The Noise weekend is absolutely FREE.

The Noise places a high value on partnering with the Police, local Neighbourhood Partnerships, Bristol City Council, and many other community based organisations and residents, in order to ensure that the projects and events of the weekend can make a positive difference in each community.  It is only with this support and by working together that The Noise and its impact can really be sustainable and beneficial past the weekend and all year round.

Esther Legg-Bagg, Project Coordinator of The Noise 2013 says, “This is a really exciting time of year for us as a charity as another Noise weekend comes around.  We can’t wait to see what 1000 volunteers, and our partnerships with many different groups, organisations and people, can do when they come together genuinely wanting to make a difference by doing some good stuff locally in Bristol.”

Volunteers Last year, we had 870 volunteers involved and this year we would like to get 1000 volunteers from across as many churches and groups as possible. The new website is now live (www.thenoise.org.uk) and you can now register as a volunteer for one or more days of the Noise weekend (4-6th May). You can register as an individual, youth group or family team. Offline registration forms are also downloadable on the registration page.
