Welcome to the latest HOPE Update

We were thrilled that so many villages, towns and cities started this month’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity by launching Hope14 as a year of mission in their area. In the past few weeks Hope14 has been launched in Hinckley, Ipswich, Eastleigh, Bedford, Carlisle, Corfe Mullen, Staines – and many more areas and on Saturday there’s a massive prayer launch in Manchester. We keep on praying, with Jesus, that the church will unite so that people will come to know the Father’s love (John 17:20-23).

Lent and Easter - Try Praying
Join churches throughout the UK during Lent and Easter in a UK-wide try praying project as part of Hope14. It’s available for every town, village and city: thousands of people, hundreds of churches in scores of places, uniting to invite people to try praying and begin to do life with God. Find out more and order copies of the trypraying booklet here.  The try praying booklet is a 7-day prayer guide to pass on to friends and family with a few words of encouragement – ‘Why don’t you try praying for a week and see what happens in your life?’ Trypraying is that simple!

Easter Ideas
There's a whole stack of ideas for mission at Easter in HOPE's Easter resource book and on our website here.  Use these ideas to think and pray how you can reach your community to put faith into words and action this Easter.

Getting creative for The Big Weekender
The Big Weekender from 3rd- 5th May 2014 will see hundreds of youth groups up and down the country being creative in mission. The dream is a generation who put their faith into words and action in every area of life and who inspire their local churches to make a positive difference in their neighbourhood.

HOPE Revolution is providing inspiration and resources from the Mission Academies – but the emphasis is on young people dreaming, planning and delivering creative ideas for word and action mission throughout the weekend. Those taking part will be given free tickets to the Big Church Day Out from 24-25th May to bring those reached through the weekend of mission.

The Big Weekender is part of Hope14’s national year of mission. It is backed by YFC, The Message Trust, Scripture Union, Soul Survivor, Soul Action, Urban Saints and many other youth ministries and denominational youth teams.

Focus on Shropshire

We love to hear what local churches are doing together.  Here's how churches in Shropshire are planning their year of mission:
  • They’ve created a website and used the HOPE logo as part of their logo.
  • Prayer is a priority and they are asking churches across the county to pray in their services on the first Sunday of every month from January to June.
  • Local mission initiatives are being planned throughout the county using HOPE resources linking with local events such as the Ludlow Food Festival and the national commemoration of World War One.
  • Telford churches are working together on a summer family fun day called One Bright Day as part of Shropshire HOPE.
  • A county-wide event – Shropshire Hope Explosion – is being planned for 5 July 2014 at Telford International Centre.
  • And they are looking ahead, establishing an on-going legacy of HOPE for the future.
