the noise 2014 3

'The Noise' 2014 is coming soon!  This year will be the 13th year running that Christians from all over Bristol will join the local church in showing God's love in practical ways across the city in a high profile weekend of projects and events.

Last year, 850 people volunteered over the three days, giving over 7000 hours of time.  These volunteers came from 50 different churches or groups. They worked on a massive variety of practical projects, hosted and ran local Family Fun Afternoons, a Community BBQ, Senior Citizens events and Sports activities. We are looking forward to doing all of this again, and continuing to build relationships with local churches and community groups through The Noise 2014!

Over the May Bank Holiday Weekend (3rd – 5th May), volunteers who take part in The Noise will be working with the communities of Easton and Barton Hill in East Bristol, as well as in Horfield, Lawrence Weston, Lockleaze, Manor Farm, Southmead, Sea Mills, Shirehampton and Upper Horfield, in North Bristol.

Although The Noise is a high profile weekend of events, it aims to demonstrate what the church is about, and highlight the good and positive work that is happening in the community, all year around.  Many sustainable projects and relationships happen as a result of the weekend – The Noise is committed to the challenge of seeing more and more of this all year round.

We want to encourage you to share this with your congregation and to encourage people to be involved in serving in these urban estates. Why not encourage a team to come for a day or the whole weekend? It is not just a youth event, but the whole church coming together in unity. It’s just one expression of the church in action in Bristol.

  • Noise volunteers can register online (from Sunday 2nd February onwards) at www.thenoise.org.uk. Downloadable volunteer registration forms are also available on the website.  Don’t forget you can also register as part of a Noise Family Team (Parents/carers & children of Primary School age and above), or as a Youth Group.  It will cost £5 per person if you sign up before 2nd March, or £7 or £10 if you leave it later!  We are encouraging people to register early to help with organisation of teams and projects.
  • We can send you packs of Individual, Family Team, and Youth Group registration forms for you to make available to your congregation, as well as a couple of posters. Please respond to this email.
  • Volunteer sign up poster is available HERE to download and print out.
  • There is also a short promotional video (1min 12sec) which you can download via this dropbox link: www.thenoise.org.uk/promovideo. We are encouraging churches to use this video on Sunday 2nd or 9th February.
  • Please share information on church websites and social media from Monday 3rd February and not before. (Look out for social media launch at 3pm on 3rd February with the 'Noise Thunderclap' - already with a social reach of over 75,000 - support us!)
