Governance Support Co-ordinator, Diocese of Bristol

Salary: £24,000 pro rata (£14,400 0.6)
Hours: 21
Location: Diocese of Bristol, 1500 Parkway North, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, BS34 8YU

The Diocese of Bristol comprises 166 parishes which collectively have over 200 churches with many also having church halls. For many parishes, adaptations and changes to buildings are a vital element of being or becoming a healthy church that transforms its community. These adaptations and changes must be done sensitively, cognisant of the heritage value and listed status of many church buildings. Further they need to be done creatively, using new techniques and technologies to grasp opportunities and overcome challenges within limited budgets.

As well as adapting buildings to suit the needs of their communities, work is constantly being carried out to establish new churches, protect the environment and advance the mission.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering these changes by joining the Governance Support Team. This role will support the work of the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) which is the diocesan committee that considers, advises on and approves all requests by parishes who wish to make changes to their buildings. This role will also help to co-ordinate Diocesan Synod which is the governing body of the Church of England in the area of the Diocese of Bristol.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a team, along with outstanding organisational skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential and you should be able to work on your own initiative.

Disabled people, those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and people under 30 are under-represented in our workforce so we particularly encourage applications from people in these groups.
