Now is the time that God wants to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children.

The National Parenting Initiative is called to inspire and
mobilise churches to play their part in seeing this
prophecy fulfilled in their local community. We believe
we are called to do this by encouraging churches to run
parenting courses and supporting them as they do so.

Our mission is to pray for, encourage and
champion churches and Christians in the city
who are working to support families in their
local communities.

At the centre of what we do is prayer. We meet to pray once a month for families in our city and the issues that are impacting them as well as for the people who are reaching out to support them.
We long to see parents, foster parents, grandparents and carers equipped, encouraged and strengthened to provide the best foundations for all the children in our city. We believe that flourishing families are key to the health and wellbeing of Bristol.
A day of inspiration, equipping and prayer
Our hope - is that post COVID - we can run a Love Family Day of Inspiration to showcase the organisations and individuals who are doing such great work supporting families in Bristol. We would love it to be a day where people can feel encouraged, supported, prayed for and equipped in the work they are already doing with families or inspired to take
How you can get involved?
PRAY - Join us from 8-8.30 am (currently on Zoom) on the last Wednesday of the month. And/or join the WhatsApp group for regular prayer points for families.

Parent Buddies is a charity that partners with churches who have a vision for strengthening family life. It provides high quality training and resources, equipping volunteers to support parents faced with the daily challenges of parenting.

What is the Parent Buddies Service?

Parent Buddies is a confidential, one to one, listening service, providing short term support for ANY parent or primary carer. Parents accessing the Parent Buddies service will meet with their Parent Buddy for an hour a week over agreed time scales.

What are the benefits for parents?

Being given the opportunity to talk and to be listened to, can make a huge difference to a parent's mental health, well-being and confidence. Parents benefit from being empowered to find their own solutions, enabling them to overcome challenges and build a positive future for their families.

‘Parent Buddies has offered me a listening ear when I really needed one, and someone I could talk to. It was a gateway to getting more help and support. It led to a really good friendship with my Parent Buddy and I actually became involved in the church as result’

What does Parent Buddies Charity provide churches?
  • training for Parent Buddies volunteers in listening, signposting and safeguarding
  • training, regular supervision and resources for Service Managers and support required to set up the Parent Buddies service
