Trauma Foundation South West Appeal
 

Our friends at Trauma Foundation South West (TFSW) have asked us to share the following appeal.

TFSW is a charity which provides counselling and psychotherapy to highly traumatised refugees and asylum seekers. They are often terribly traumatised; from both experiences in their home country and the often traumatising journey to the UK. Not only that, but many are met here with experiences that re-stimulate previous traumas, particularly since the ‘hostile environment’ policy was activated.
 
We work in partnership with other organisations in Bristol who offer more practical support. The part we play is to offer significant emotional support. This often involves staying with people who are in despair. Although the work can be painful and exhausting, it is also fulfilling and worth while. 

We keep our costs as low as we can, but need to raise about £100,000 a year to provide a really good service. We see people individually and in groups, including an art therapy group and are planning to start another when we can afford it. All our therapists are fully qualified and have extra training and supervision. Any financial support we can attract is very welcome.
