Goodbye from Tim
It’s with conflicting emotions that I have decided to step down as Director of Sixty-One. The Sixty-One journey started when I met Andy Street back in 2013 and we started to explore ideas on how the church could help people who were leaving prison; at the time I was CEO of Changing Tunes.
Eight years later, Sixty-One’s MentorMe project is providing 1,000 mentoring sessions per year and 1,400 gift bags are given to prisoners each Christmas. In addition, we partner with: four Hubs (run by amazing churches) who provide much needed weekly support sessions for ex-prisoners, a businessman who runs an MBA empowerment course, now available in 30 prisons, and a constructive masculinity course, run in-prison and in the community, that is run by a leader form the Black community.
I’ve always believed the church has a huge well of skill and compassion, which sometimes needs support to be released. Sixty-One’s objective is to inspire, enable and support the release of this resource. It’s been such a privilege to work with so many people who share the vision of manifesting the love of Jesus through unconditional support for those on the margins.
When I leave (not until we have appointed a replacement) I have plans to further help the church engage with the poor and to help increase communication and engagement across the churches in the city.
Thank you to my team, trustees and volunteers, it’s been a privilege, and great fun, working with you.
Working with Tim
It’s been a joy and privilege to work with Tim Snowdon over the last few years, since we first met in 2013. I’m pleased to be able to call Tim a good friend, as well as a colleague.
He has led the work of Sixty-One incredibly well, and leaves a very significant legacy indeed.
As we move forward we will of course miss him, but he leaves the charity in an excellent position for us to be able to build and develop the work to make it even more effective in supporting those that have come through the criminal justice system.
I want to personally thank Tim for all that he has achieved during his time at Sixty-One, and I’m sure I speak on behalf of my fellow trustees in that regard. I wish Tim all the very best in this next season of life, and I know that he still has much to contribute to the work of the Kingdom in future years.
