We can’t quite believe it’s already been over three months since the grand opening of Sparks! Since then we’ve been thrilled to welcome nearly 150,000 of you into our store and host a huge range of events and workshops and including Bristol’s biggest Hip Hop event and a jam-packed weekend of model-making workshops and film screenings with Aardman Animations.


Now as we look ahead to the rest of the year and beyond, we’re excited to share with you a whole range of ways for you to be part of Sparks Bristol.

Join our Department of Food & Drink

We’re excited to share with you a unique new opportunity for an individual or organisation to be part of, or to run in its entirety, our Department of Food & Drink. We would love to include coffee and snacks, a refill shop, fair trade foods, local and sustainably sourced fresh food and catering for Sparks events, but this is a collaborative process so we'd love to hear any other suggestions you may have. Calling all artists!

Sparks is looking for talented artists from underrepresented groups, including Black, Asian and minority ethnic, disabled, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ and working class to help to make Sparks more of an inclusive experience for our wonderful visitors. Thanks to funding from Arts’ Council England, we are in search of creatives to work on a range of projects including creating an immersive central sculpture, a travelling performance podium and a series of artistic wayfinding signs and maps. Volunteering with a difference

As a charity project, Sparks Bristol relies on dedicated volunteers to keep us up and running. But we are always looking for new volunteers to join our friendly team. Think this could be you? We’re hosting our next volunteer open evening on Thursday 14th September and would love for you to be there! Come along to find out all about our huge range of volunteer opportunities, from providing energy advice and tips to helping to run our weekly repair cafe, and much more! Whatever skills or time you can offer, we want to hear from you.

Book a unique school trip

If you’re an educator looking for a unique learning experience, then you’ve come to the right place! In our education hub, Global Goals Centre are offering a range of workshops for students at KS2 level and above, centred around fashion, food, nature, travel and migration. Why not book a full day at Sparks? As well as a full tour of Sparks which teachers have described as ‘really exciting, informative and fun for students’, you can spend half the day in a themed workshop and half learning about electrical waste at the Re-Fuse hub. Hire a creative desk space

Artspace Lifespace brings affordable creative desk space for hire to the second and third floors of Sparks in our Department of Imagination - a place where entrepreneurs, freelancers and creatives can thrive in a supportive and collaborative environment. We are particularly interested in supporting the development of talent who work at the intersection of creative arts, technology and sustainability. Support our charity project

Everything you see inside Sparks has been created with donated and recycled materials but we need continuing resources, people-power and funding to keep us up and running! A donation to Sparks could make all the difference, no matter how small. £25 could help provide a training session for volunteers, £50 could go towards a schools’ workshop to inspire the next generation, and £100 could help with building costs and keep our doors open. Plus, we have lots of great sponsorship opportunities so if you’d like to increase your company’s visibility and take positive action on social and climate issues, please do get in touch!
