Easter gifts for women in prison at Eastwood Park

Dear Friends

I hope that you are doing well.

This Easter, we’ll be sending 400 bags of gifts into Eastwood Park Prison to be handed out to the women over the Easter weekend. Each gift bag will contain Mini Easter eggs, biscuits, a mindful colouring activity, colouring pens, a lip salve, an Easter booklet, information about mentoring and a handwritten Easter card.

More than just gifts and chocolate, the bags remind the women that they are not forgotten and that there is support and a warm welcome available on the outside.

Here’s what some of the ladies who received a bag said last year:

“To you all at Sixty-One, Thank you all for such a wonderful uplifting Easter package. It made my Easter Sunday easier to manage here at EWP. Every day a new day. Bless you” – a serving prisoner

“Dear friends, thank you for the love and kindness you have shared with me this Easter. It means so much, please will you say a prayer for me … much love to you all.” - letter received from a serving prisoner

We’d love to invite you to join with us to bless the women at Eastwood Park.

If people would like to get involved, there are a few ways they can do this:

·         On Saturday 16th March 2024 10:30-12:30, we’ll be hosting a packing day at St Agnes Church, BS2 9LL to pack the gifts ready to go into the prison - would a team or individuals from your church consider joining us to help us pack the bags?

·         Would you like someone from our team to come and talk about the work that Sixty-One is doing to support people who have been through the prison system and how your church could be involved? – We’d be delighted to come and speak!

·         Could you publicise the opportunity to give towards the costs of the bags to be given to the women, if so, then a link to our JustGiving page is here.

We’d love to hear from you as to whether any of the above might be possible, or you are very welcome to give us a call on the below number so that we can talk in more detail about this project. I’ve also attached a flyer which has all of the details.

Many thanks again,
Alison Paginton
