Filwood Hope - Serving the Community of Knowle West

Filwood Hope opened their doors 27 years ago through Knowle West Churches and Network Christian counselling recognising there was a huge need in the area for support around personal and financial hardship.  This need continues to be high today.  Over the past year alone 2331 people came to the centre for advice on housing, homelessness, benefits and debt amongst other issues.  We helped clients benefit financially with a collective £302,587.23 through benefit applications/savings and grants.  We can give out food, fuel and hygiene aid to those most disadvantaged.

We open our doors 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday 9.30am - 1pm) and are a small team of two advisors, we have 6 volunteers who are all connected to local churches. They are instrumental to ensuring clients are welcomed and feel safe whilst waiting for an advisor.  There are no criteria’s for accessing our service so there are no barriers for people who need help.

The centre relies on monetary donations and funding is getting harder to secure. We need £5000 a month to be able to open our doors.  Whilst our funding has decreased our workload has increased with many more people left in poverty. Therefore, any help is much welcomed in the form of monetary donations (including gift aid),  or volunteering. If you feel this is something you would like to help with, please contact Filwood Hope on 07712 661 241 or email

Thank you for your time.
