Seeing Rachel – A Bristol Film About Human Trafficking

This year has been a busy year for the film. After years of being in the doldrums, we now have a new Executive Producer (Sandra Isabel Corriea) and are officially In Development.

This year Sandra and I will attend the Tribeca Lisbon Film Festival, as we seek to make connections and find development funding. Getting any film into production is a long and winding road, with encouragements and discouragements along the way, but now we sense a growing momentum for the production.

As part of our strategy, we are developing the Seeing Rachel You Tube Channel where we’ll promote the film, as well as raise awareness of human trafficking.

Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/@SeeingRachel-hcp

The channel will also feature interviews with the CEOs of charities in the UK and US; to discuss their work and the strategies they pursue in the fight for justice for survivors and victims who are yet to be set free.

Our first interview was with Andrew Wallis of Unseen UK, a Bristol-based charity that works with the survivors of sex trafficking and also hosts the Modern-Day Slavery Helpline (08000 121 700).

With filmmakers we’ll also be raising the subject of our social responsibility as creative people and so we’ll be speaking with Producers, Directors and Writers from around the globe.

Bristol is continually voted as one of the best places to live in the country, but as Andrew Wallis pointed out, the city is also a distribution hub for trafficking in this country and beyond.

For the film, we are looking to have a wide distribution and to help capture the imagination of a global audience and inspire them to take positive action.

Whilst we are looking into this dark phenomenon, it pays to remember the films tagline: “Sometimes to overcome the darkness you have to turn and face the light.

We would ask for your prayers for the many challenges we face as we move forward towards production.

Please pray for our attendance at the Tribeca Lisbon Film Festival (18th-19th October) and that we’ll forge relationships that will facilitate our progress.
